The Fire Museum of Memphis is an interactive attraction appealing to school children, families, fire fans, conventioneers and tourists. Inside the museum, visitors will find the history of fire fighting in the Memphis area, educational exhibitions and fire safety information. Memphis Fire Department Education Specialists are on duty at all times to discuss fire safety with visitors. Major attractions exceeding $5.5 million include: The Fire Room, Ol' Billy (the talking horse), 1897 Hale Water Tower, 1910 Horse drawn steam engine. Historic Fires exhibit, Black Firefighters exhibit, EMS exhibit (ambulance box), The Ladder Company game, Fire Safety House, & The Escape Maze, and a Memorial Wall dedicated to Memphis Firefighters who died in the line of duty.
